1. Roundhay Park

Roundhay Park is ideal for the family to have fun enjoying the great outdoors. Located a 15-minute drive from Clayton Hotel Leeds, the park is one of Europe’s biggest inner-city green spaces spanning over 700 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and landscaped gardens. Spot the various species of fish and birds across the water features in the park or enjoy some fishing on Waterloo lake.
Roundhay Park also boasts Tropical World, one of Leeds’s most popular family attractions, giving visitors the chance to see many intriguing animals including crocodiles, lemurs, snakes, meerkats, and butterflies. The kids will be delighted to learn about these amazing animals, while refreshments can be found at the on-site café or after the long day out relax back at the hotel and eat at the inkwell bar which caters for everyone.
2. The Royal Armouries

The Royal Armouries, the oldest museum in the UK, is a great family day out in Leeds for all ages. Located just a 10-minute walk from Clayton Hotel Leeds, the Royal Armouries is home to over 8,500 pieces of suits of armour, swords and other arms. The museum has a daily programme of live displays ranging from jousting, falconry and horsemanship all taking place in the Tiltyard. Let your inner Viking run wild and test your aim at the crossbow shooting range.
Younger kids are also catered for with the Jester’s Yard, a special play area where kids can get dressed up like Vikings and play in the castle. There is a café in the museum or alternatively pack your own lunch and dine in the spacious outdoor picnic area.
3. Go Karting at Team Sports

If you want to provide the kids with an adrenaline-filled adventure they will never forget, get down to Team Sport. At 580m, this racing track is the longest indoor track in Yorkshire and is located less than 10-minutes drive from the hotel. Get the competitive juices flowing as you take on these tricky corners and speedy straights. Try beat the average lap time of 45s as you buzz around the track at speeds of up to 40mph. All packages come with full safety briefings so you can relax, knowing your kids are in safe hands. The minimum age for this attraction is 8 years old.
4. Harewood House
25-minutes’ drive from hotel
There is so much to do and see at Harewood House, that you may struggle to fit it all in! This is the perfect family day out with both fun indoor and outdoor activities on site. A 25-minute drive from the hotel, this 18th century house is a popular attraction in Leeds, featuring over 100 acres of beautiful gardens containing a wide range of plants from all over the world. Kids will enjoy the adventure playground complete with slides, climbing frames and swings as well as a café and ice cream kiosk.
A visit to the Bird Garden is a must! The Bird Garden is home to over 40 species of very rare and exotic birds from all over the world. The birds that can be seen include chirpy parrots, elegant flamingos and the extremely popular Humboldt penguins.
5. Clip ’n Climb Leeds

Here you will learn about the history of Leeds, find out more about the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Rome and Greece, and explore the fascinating culture of Asia. If you are lucky you may even encounter the famous Leeds Tiger. In the Collectors Cabinet you will find the impressive skeleton of the heavy-footed Moa – one of the largest birds to ever roam the earth. The museum also hosts a wide range of events and exhibitions each month.
