Headingley Stadium

Headingley Stadium is a well-known sporting complex in the suburb of Headingley in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club team and Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union team and also Leeds Rhinos Rugby League.

In 2016 the redevelopment plans were announced of the newly named Headingley Carnegie Stadium, that hosts both the Rugby and Cricket in Leeds. The new name of Headingley Carnegie Stadium came on-board from a financial investment by Leeds Beckett University.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in Headingley is one of the greatest clubs in the world. The Club was established over 150 years ago, with tradition, history and passion of Yorkshire Cricket is renowned through the world. Yorkshire County Cricket Club also hosts regular England Test matches.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has a stadium shop behind the White Rose Stand in Headingley Cricket Ground. There is also a mobile shop that follows Yorkshire County Cricket Club to different grounds in Yorkshire, that offers various merchandise.

Yorkshire Cricket Centre

Located opposite Headingley Cricket ground, with first class facilities. Yorkshire Cricket Centre has various facilities within the centre from 2 courts, 8 lanes, BOLA three professional bowling machines, changing facilities with showers, viewing balconies and tea and coffee machines.

The Yorkshire Cricket Centre is located on St Michael’s Lane in Headingley. The Centre is opposite Gate B of Headingley Cricket Ground and can be easily accessed by car. Yorkshire Cricket Centre is only a 10-minute walk from Burley Park Train Station.

Yorkshire Rugby

Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club

Leeds Rhinos is a professional rugby league club based in West Yorkshire. Founded in 1870, the club compete in the Super League, which is the top level European rugby league club competition. All home games take place at Headingley Stadium.

Leeds Rhinos have won 10 league Championships, 13 Challenge Cups and 3 world challenge titles.

Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union

Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union was founded in 1878 as Headingley FC.

Five Eras of Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union:

  • 1878-1992- Headingley FC
  • 1924-1992- Roundhay RUFC
  • 1992-1997- Leeds RUFC
  • 1998-2007- Leeds Tykes
  • 2007-2014- Leeds Carnegie
  • 2014-present- Yorkshire Carnegie

Headingley also hosts Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union games, playing in the second division of the English league.  Yorkshire Carnegie have won the Yorkshire cup 3 times, National division one 3 times and also won the Powergen Cup once.
