Christmas breaks in Leeds

Christmas time at Leeds can feel very special with Christmas shoppers bustling about trying to find the last-minute deals and festive revellers enjoying the huge range of bars and restaurants with a number of fantastic opportunities that are not available at any other time of the year.

Experience the Leeds Christmas spirit

The first of these is the Christmas lights that give the high street and city centre a festive feel and greet people into the city. The lights being turned on is always a fun event that has previously been hosted by a number of celebrities. With music, food and shopping it’s an easy sure fire way of getting in the Christmas spirit.

Another opportunity that is only available to you over the Christmas period is the Christmas market that is held in Millennium Square in the centre of the city. The Christmas market offers a spectacular array of festive stalls selling trinkets and food from Germany and the rest of Europe. This can be the perfect place to find that special gift for someone or to simply pick up something for yourself. The Christmas market also offers a number of food and drink locations selling traditional Bavarian beer along with mulled wine and other drinks.

Starting from mid-October running to the end of the year, Leeds at Christmas has comedy shows, musicals and ballets across a range of venues, perfect for anyone who wants to experience a whimsical Christmas. This Christmas experience shows from legendary Joanna Lumley who is debuting in her first ever live tour called ‘It’s all about me’, musicals Jersey Boys, Shrek the Musical and Beauty and the Beast are ideal for all ages, and last but not least Christmas isn’t complete without the Northern Ballet’s The Nutcracker.
